OUTLINE OF THE OFFICE Outline
L&J LAW OFFICE, LPC (called "L&J") was incorporated as a professional corporation as of April 1, 2005 by consolidation of the former Law Offices of KASAHARA & KIMURA LAW OFFICES and SATORI LAW OFFICE.
In addition to this, in June, 2005 L&J opened its Imabari Office in Ehime Prefecture.

L&J is especially active in the highly specialized fields of maritime matters, ship finance and international transaction although it handles all types of legal matters including domestic commercial and civil cases, whereby providing its clients with wide variety of legal services. By expansion of the human sources and facilities L&J constitutes suitable working team of staff members on a case by case basis and provides prompt and high quality of services in the field of maritime matters, finance, international transaction and general domestic legal matters. L&J has established worldwide communication network of reputed law firms in the main nations of the world and is also capable of rendering prompt services with respect to international legal matters.

The Office's competitive power will be increased by its branch office in Imabari. Imabari has been famous as a centre of maritime industries, now having more than 500 marine relating companies, such as shipowners, operators, shipbuilders and major insurance companies' and P&I's branches. Utilizing the extended office facility in such good location, the Office will be able to provide the clients with more efficient and better quality of services.
Main Areas of Practice
Maritime Matters:
L&J represents many P&I Clubs, Insurance Companies, Shipowners, Managers, Operators, Shipbuilders, etc. with whom L&J has close link, and for them L&J has provided all fields of maritime matters including marine casualties (collision, grounding, oil spillage), cargo claims, charter party dispute, dispute on sale of vessel, ship registration, foreign investment, drafting various contracts and legal consultation.
Finance:
L&J represents Trading Companies, Leasing Companies, Banks, Shipbuilders, Shipowners, etc. For them L&J has provided various services, such as drafting ship finance documents, investment agreements, resolving dispute, obtaining performance of obligation, legal consultation, etc.
International Transaction:
L&J's main areas of work are international commodity exchange, incorporation of joint ventures, drafting license contracts, etc.
Corporate:
L&J has experiences in matters relating to incorporation of Japanese subsidiaries or branches of foreign corporations, consultation for IPO in Japanese stock markets, drafting of the investment agreements to Japanese companies, etc.
Insolvency Laws:
L&J has been involved in application for Rehabilitation Procedure, Bankruptcy and other Insolvency Procedures on behalf of indebted companies or creditors, etc.
Among other various activities, the Office has been organizing and providing the regular seminars two times a month at the Japan Shipping Exchange Inc. for many people in shipping industries.
